Simmer is a Swedish design and architecture office. We reduce until we reach the essential, from the scale of a building to the ergonomics of a chair. What we build has a tendency towards the robust: a strength of material, a transparency of function, a simplicity of geometry. When someone encounters our designs in the physical world, the object or space communicates its purpose directly. Anticipating the physicality of a design means prototypes. We build as we think. We put materiality first. Before and during this process of making and remaking, we will discuss. We voice ideas to the group, then those ideas get the same treatment as the prototypes: we iterate through debate. This works because we trust each other and the process. We reduce to the essential.
